Weeeeelllll, I’ve still got to print out the photos from New Year’s Eve. And I’ve got to do that Year In Review spread I have planned. Aaaaand, I have to write out all the captions and finish the journaling. Still…. it is almost done!!! Yay!
Today, I’m sharing some of my favorite pages from the album.
This is the title page, taken without my enthusiastic assistant. “Mama, I help you with the camera!!!!”. I bought the 2013 December Daily kit from Studio Calico; but I’ve used it to document our family’s memories throughout the entire holiday season (rather than daily activities from December 1st to Christmas Day, as is the original purpose of the kit).
For me, no decor quite compares to the beauty of the parols or Christmas star lanterns that are hung everywhere in the Philippines during the holidays. Though I can’t hang a traditional capiz parol outside because of the harsh Canadian winters, every year I display the paper lanterns I brought from Manila inside our home. I hung them by our windows so that they can still be seen from the outside.
Until I moved to Canada, I could never relate to the snow-related Christmas carols. But last year, “Winter Wonderland” was oh-so-appropriate especially since we got hit by an ice storm on December 22 and woke up to a virtual Narnia.
I love how the left page below turned out. It’s inspired by this page by Elise Blaha Cripe, who is one of my favorite bloggers. I cheated though and used a collage app (Diptic) on my iPhone to make it. Easy, peasy.
